Tom Kimmel’s songs have been featured on albums by dozens of major artists (including Johnny Cash, Linda Ronstadt and Joe Cocker) and on the soundtracks of many films and television shows (including Twins, Runaway Bride and Touched By An Angel). A soulful performer and storyteller, he tours and teaches widely, has released seven albums and published a book of poems.

Long-time pro songwriter Tom Kimmel will share a bird’s-eye view of the world of songwriting for film and TV. Using his own songs as references, he’ll speak about how he approaches writing a song to submit for a film, how a song might be marketed for film, the role film and TV music supervisors play in placing songs, and how writers are paid for use of their songs. He’ll also share a few humorous stories about how his songs made it (or didn’t!) into a film or show…. and he’ll make available resources and references for workshop participants.
