New Prizes for High School and College Students – Friday, April 24, 2017

The Tupelo Film Festival is proud to announce the addition of new prizes that will be awarded to student winners of the film competition. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners of the Mississippi High School Film Competition will compete against the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners of the college student category for overall student winners.

  • The overall 1st place student winner will receive $2,500.
  • The overall 2nd place student winner will receive $2,000.
  • The overall 3rd place student winner will receive $1,000.

THE STUDENT WINNERS OF THE OVERALL PRIZES MUST BE PRESENT AT THE TUPELO FILM FESTIVAL IN ORDER TO WIN. Students do not have to be present to win a prize in their respective categories though (such as the Mississippi High School Film Competition and the College Student genre).

John Rasberry, widower of Pat Rasberry, is donating the new prize money in honor of his late wife, who worked tirelessly to encourage student filmmakers in Mississippi. Students will still win the original prize money in the individual student categories. The audience favorite winner in the Mississippi High School Competition will only win the original prize money.

Also, we have extended the deadline for student submissions to Monday, March 27, at midnight. Waiver code is: studentex
